Creator Earnings Report 2026

What YouTube, TikTok and Twitch actually pay creators per view, per sub and per country. Built from published platform rates, named creator disclosures and industry CPM benchmarks, run through the same model that powers the EarnTrackr calculators.

How we built this

Methodology

This report does not use private creator payout data or a new survey. Every figure is either (a) quoted from a named public source (platform documentation, a creator's own earnings disclosure, or a published industry benchmark), or (b) modeled by applying EarnTrackr's calculator formulas to those published rates. Modeled numbers are labeled as such throughout.

The model. YouTube earnings = views × monetized-view share (60% default) ÷ 1,000 × niche RPM × location multiplier × seasonal multiplier. TikTok uses the same structure with a 50% qualified-view default and a flat Creator Rewards rate. RPM is the creator's take after the platform cut (YouTube keeps 45% of long-form ad revenue); CPM is what advertisers pay. Twitch figures use Twitch's published price list and revenue-split ladder; Twitch ad CPMs are industry estimates because Twitch publishes no rate card.

Inputs. Niche RPM ranges, country multipliers and seasonal multipliers were compiled in May 2026 from 2024–2026 sources including YTface, Lenos, SMBillion, UpGrowth, OutlierKit, Influencer Marketing Hub and TubeBuddy, then sanity-checked against named creator disclosures (Erika Kullberg via Shopify, vidIQ's channel case study). No pre-2023 figure is used as a primary anchor.

Limitations. Many CPM benchmarks come from creator-economy publishers rather than the platforms themselves, and real RPM varies with audience age, watch time, ad-blocker use and content suitability. Treat every range as a planning estimate, not a guarantee. India is the least certain market: research sources put Indian finance RPM at $0.50–$1.50, while our model applies the stricter pure-CPM ratio, so its India figures are lower. The full source list is in Sources.

What 1 million views pays

The same headline view count produces very different paychecks depending on format and platform. Three of the figures below are real creator disclosures; one (TikTok) is modeled.

Platform

YouTube: still the only big ad-revenue payer

YouTube shares 55% of long-form ad revenue with creators and 45% of the Shorts creator pool (after music licensing), per the YouTube Partner Program. That split, plus advertiser demand for search-driven long-form viewing, is why YouTube long-form is the benchmark the other platforms are measured against.

In our model, US long-form RPM runs from $2–$5 in gaming to $15–$30 in personal finance. Shorts sit at $0.03–$0.08 per 1,000 views for a US audience. Erika Kullberg's disclosure shows the gap in practice: a 12-minute video earned $45,639.14 from 3.9M views, while a 48-second Short earned $106.85 from 4M views.

Platform

TikTok: better than the Creator Fund, still far below YouTube

TikTok retired its Creator Fund on December 16, 2023 in the US, UK, Germany and France (reported by TechCrunch, Fast Company and The Verge). Its replacement, the Creator Rewards Program (launched March 5, 2024), pays $0.40–$1.00 per 1,000 qualified views, compared with $0.02–$0.04 under the old fund. TikTok says creators can earn up to 20 times more than before.

Two caveats shrink real payouts. First, only qualified views count: For You feed views of original videos at least one minute long, watched for more than five seconds. Second, eligibility is limited to the US, UK, France, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Canada, Australia and Brazil, so creators with Indian audiences earn nothing from the program. One creator reported by DemandSage earned $322.93 for a 1.8M-view video, of which only 659,200 views qualified: about $0.49 per 1,000 qualified views, or $0.18 per 1,000 total views.

Platform

Twitch: subs, not ads, pay the bills

Twitch income is driven by subscriptions rather than view-based ad revenue. US Tier 1 subs cost $5.99 on web. Per Twitch's January 2024 payout update, every streamer starts on a 50/50 split and can reach 60/40 or 70/30 through Plus Points. Prime subs pay a fixed $2.25 in the US, and every Bit pays the streamer $0.01.

Revenue splitTier 1Tier 2Tier 3
Default 50/50$3.00$5.00$12.50
60/40 (100+ Plus Points)$3.59$5.99$14.99
70/30 (300+ Plus Points)$4.19$6.99$17.49

Streamer payout per US web subscription at $5.99 / $9.99 / $24.99. Source: Twitch blog and price list; computed by EarnTrackr.

Ads matter less: streamers earn 55% of net ad revenue when they run at least three ad minutes per hour, or 30% otherwise. Industry estimates put gross CPMs at roughly $4–$10 for US, UK, Canadian and Australian audiences and under $2 for Tier-3 markets. Sponsorships, commonly priced at $0.80–$1.50 per concurrent viewer per hour, often out-earn ads entirely. Estimate a channel with the Twitch streamer income calculator or see Twitch CPM rates explained.

Niche

Earnings by niche

Niche is the choice most new creators don't realize they are making. On YouTube, advertisers pay a premium to reach viewers with buying intent, so finance and tech videos earn several times more per view than gaming or comedy. On TikTok, the Creator Rewards base rate does not change by niche.

Location

Earnings by audience location

After niche, the viewer's country is the biggest lever, and it is the viewer's location that counts, not the creator's. YTface's 2026 benchmarks put US YouTube CPM near $36 against $0.77 for India, a gap of about 47 times.

Timing

Seasonality: the Q4 peak and January slump

Ad budgets follow the retail calendar. In our model, Q4 RPM is 1.4× the annual baseline and Q1 is 0.72×, so the same video can earn about 1.9 times more per view in December than in January. Benchmarks behind this include a January 2025 CPM dip to $1.98 in some categories (UpGrowth, OutlierKit) and a December 2024 Cyber Week peak of $6.93 (Lenos).
